And what that does — and does not — change about the prices you see.
Some of the links on this site earn TAGS a commission when someone buys through them. The retailer pays that commission out of its own margin. It never changes the price you pay.
No retailer can pay us for placement, and no payment of any kind affects which store we show as cheapest.
TAGS is a price-comparison and deal-discovery service operated from the United States. It identifies the same physical product across different retailers using its barcode, records the price each retailer publishes, and shows you where that product currently costs least. Prices come from the retailers themselves, through their own published interfaces or their own public product pages. Every price is stored with the retailer that gave it and the time it was captured, because a price is a measurement, not a promise.
We do not display a “was” price unless the retailer published one. No saving shown on this site is estimated, inferred or generated. If we cannot prove a discount, we show no discount.
Ranking is by price. It is not influenced by whether a retailer has an affiliate relationship with us. A store we earn nothing from is still shown first if it is the cheapest. That rule is the entire reason the service is worth using, so it is not negotiable.
Promotions and coupon codes come directly from the advertiser, along with the end date they give us. Offers that have expired are removed automatically rather than left up to catch someone out.
